Endpoint Agent Installation Closes Windows Explorer Process And Is Not Restarted

Issue/Introduction

Data Loss Prevention (DLP) 14.x

After DLP Endpoint Agent install completes, applications that are closed during the process of installing/uninstalling are supposed to startup again.

In some cases, this does not occur and requires a workstation to be restarted.

Cause

MSIRESTARTMANAGER property is not set by our installer and can cause applications that are closed during an installation procedure to stay closed until the application is started manually, or the system is restarted.
Applications that have been observed as affected, and most apparent to end users, include Explorer.exe.
 

Resolution

MSIRESTARTMANAGER is a MSI property that may be set via a transform file created by a deployment team.
Discuss removing this property from any transform files that are used with our DLP Endpoint Agent MSI installation package.
