Yahoo.com redirects to a different country's version

Issue/Introduction

When U.S. based users try to navigate to yahoo.com, they are directed to a different country's version instead of the properly geolocated U.S. version.

Cause

• The redirect is happening because Yahoo does their own DNS geolocations to determine IP location.
• When we get new IP address ranges, some are still registered in other countries.
• When we submit the IP ranges to these providers, they are left to their own timeline to update their database.

Resolution

Redirect yahoo.com to us.yahoo.com
