SEP 14.2 (Symantec Endpoint Protection) GUI for managed Mac client constantly displays "Definitions are outdated"

Cause

The client will erroneously (and contrarily) display this message when "Display warning when definitions are outdated" is disabled in Virus and Spyware policy at the SEPM (Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager). See Mac Settings, Miscellaneous.

Appears to happen only in SEP 14.2 for Mac.

Resolution

Workaround for now is to not disable "Display warning when definitions are outdated" in Mac Settings, Miscellaneous, of Virus and Spyware policy.

Symantec is aware of this issue and this document will be updated as new information becomes available.
