SIM error "UHS port 8080 is used by another application. Specify unused open port." during upgrade

Issue/Introduction

During the IT Management Suite upgrade, SIM may display the  following error message: "UHS port 8080 is used by another application. Specify unused open port."

At the same time, SIM does not allow to specify another port and the upgrade cannot proceed.

UHS port 8080 is used by another application. Specify unused open port.

Cause

Value for SOFTWARE\Altiris\UHSPort\Port is missing, so SIM tries to use the default 8080 port but may detect that other process is using it.

Resolution

Before the upgrade, manually set SOFTWARE\Altiris\UHSPort\Port to port that was previously configured for Unified Help System (default value is 8080).
