Issue/Introduction

Customer is being asked for credentials after every new tab is opened in a browser even though the Captive Portal Refresh Frequency has been set to greater than 1 day.

Environment

Explicit Proxy with Authentication enabled as Captive Portal

Cause

  1. Browser cookies or cache is disabled.
  2. Thrid party software is interferring or deleting the cache or cookies

Resolution

  1. Sessions are stored in the browser cookies and cache. Make sure that the cookies and cache are enabled on the browser being used by the end user.
  2. Make sure there are no software like Ccleaner interferring or deleting the cache or cookies.
