Messaging Gateway

Issue/Introduction

When a domain has a malformed DMARC record in the DNS, Symantec Messaging Gateway (SMG) will return a DMARC status of "none" for messages from that domain rather than "permerror".

Cause

SMG 10.7.4 and earlier treat DNS errors as a 'none' result rather than 'temperror'.

SMG 10.7.4 and earlier treat DMARC record format errors as a 'none' result rather than 'permerror'

Resolution

This does not affect message filtering or DMARC operation but will be addressed in the SMG 10.7.5 release.
