Issue/Introduction
After renewing a Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) license, SEP for Mac clients report that their SEP licenses are expired. SEP for Windows clients report their license status correctly.
Cause
An old licenses_data.db license file exists in the /Library/Application Support/Symantec/SMC/license directory. This file contains outdated and expired license information. There is also an up-to-date .slf Symantec license file in this directory. SEP for Mac is defaulting to the licenses_data.db file for its licensing information.
Resolution
Copy both license files to a separate directory as a backup.
Delete the licenses_data.db file from the /Library/Application Support/Symantec/SMC/license directory.
Restart the SEP for Mac computer.
The SEP for Mac client license status should now display as activated in the SEP for Mac user interface.
