Encryption Desktop crashes when trying to encrypt or decrypt files on MacOS

Issue/Introduction

On a MacOS system, the Encryption Desktop client crashes when trying to encrypt or decrypt a file.  This happens in both ways of trying to encrypt or decrypt: from the Encryption Desktop client, File Menu, this can happen when selecting the Encrypt or Decrypt options.  From the Finder App, this can happen from the context menu when trying to right-click a file.

Environment

MacOS Sierra (10.12), High Sierra (10.13), or Mojave (10.14)
Encryption Desktop 10.4.2 MP3 and previous versions

Resolution

In December 2019, Symantec released Encryption Desktop 10.4.2 MP4, which addresses this issue. For further information on this release, please refer to the release notes.
