Issue/Introduction

The purpose of this article is to provide information on how to include client hostname information in the Access Logs of a ProxySG.

By default, the ProxySG has an access log called "main". This log doesn't contain information on the client's hostname obtained by the proxy through a reverse DNS lookup.

Resolution

The "main" Log Format can be modified to include the hostname field, which is "x-cs-dns".

The "x-cs-dns" will get the hostname of the client by proxy doing a reverse DNS lookup of the client IP.

The full list of available log fields can be found in the CPL (Code Policy Language) Reference Guide of your current SGOS version within Symantec's Documentation site.
