View and change gateway IP address for Messaging Gateway hosts

Issue/Introduction

You need to verify and/or change the IP address related to a host in your Symantec Messaging Gateway (SMG).

Resolution

To verify the gateway IP in the Control Center:

  1. Go to the Administration tab.
  2. Under Hosts in the left column, click Configuration.
  3. Click the hostname you wish to view and/or edit.
  4. Click the Ethernet tab after the host configuration opens.
  5. Scroll down to the Routing group of options.

The existing default gateway is listed here, along with any configured static routes.

To change the gateway IP:

  1. Remove the existing IP address in the Default Gateway: box.
  2. Type the correct IP in the box.
  3. Click the Save button below the box.

Note: Changing the gateway IP in the Control Center is a permanent change. If you need a temporary change, try changing via command line (TECH154842).
