Ghost Solution Suite

Issue/Introduction

When working with Scripted OS Install (SOI) packages in Ghost Solution Suite (GSS)  it may be necessary to remove an older version of an OS that is no longer needed. Occasionally it is necessary to remove certain packages to free up space or reduce the possibility of using an outdated version of the OS.

Environment

GSS 3.x using SOI jobs for OS install automation.

Resolution

The following procedure lists the steps to delete an SOI package from the GSS Server.

  1. Launch the GSS Console and select the SOI task that has the SOI package that needs to be deleted.
  2. In the SOI task, navigate to the Installation Source Files page and select the package that needs to be deleted.
  3. Note the location of the SOI package this is stored in the express share of the GSS Server.
  4. Navigate to that Location and delete the WinOSxxx folder that was noted in step 3.

For example:

From the screen shot below navigate to the following location and delete the WinOS004 this will clean up this particular SOI package.

c:\Program Files (x86)\Altiris\eXpress\Deployment Server\Deploy
