During installation of Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) Client, a specified settings (also for reboot after the installation) can be rolled-out:
However, despite of configuration by administrator under in "Restart Settings" to:
- Forced Restart (after predefine amount of time)
- Delayed Restart
- No Restart
- Custom Restart
computer reboots immediately after SEP Client installation:
If option "Remove Existing Symantec Endpoint Protection client software that cannot be uninstalled" is configured within your restart settings under "Basic Settings" all other settings for restart will be ignored and reboot will take place immediately after the old installation files of SEP Clients are removed. This is the product design.
In order to prevent the forced restart, check if the mentioned above setting is activated and switch whether to "Do not uninstall existing security software" or to: "Automatically uninstall existing third party security software" under "Basic Settings" of "Restart Options"
