Issue/Introduction

Can we disable The Windows FileSystemObject (FSO) object?

Environment

ITMS 8.x

Resolution

"The Windows FileSystemObject (FSO) object is part of the Windows Scripting Host framework and provides access to the computer's file system.  This functionality provides the application developer the ability to manage files, folders, and drives. Basic methods include the ability to create, delete, move, and modify files and folders.

As a product that relies heavily on the ability to access files on a computer system, the ITMS product suite requires the use of the Windows FileSystemObject object.  Components and functions include the Installer Custom Actions, Custom Inventories, and both Server and Agent VB scripting functionality.  Disabling FileSystemObject while using the ITMS product suite would render many parts of the product unusable."
