License counting for Control Compliance Suite agents

Issue/Introduction

You want to know how the Symantec Control Compliance Suite (CCS) Manager counts licenses.

You want to know what will happen if there are not enough licenses.

 

Environment

Control Compliance Suite 11.5

Cause

The CCS agent installation does not meter licenses. In other words, either installing or uninstalling agents does not affect the license counting. The agent registration does not affect the license counting. You can run the Fetch Registered Agents job to import and count registered agents.

 

Resolution

Licenses are counted when you do data collection. The official licensing process is to add the licenses before deploying the agents.

To release a license you can delete an agent in the CCS Console.

On CCS 11.0, you can install the CCS agent on agent PC, but the CCS Manager will not register this agent.
