What is required by the Service Management installer when a remote SQL Server is used for the MDB?

Environment

Service Desk Manager 17.x

 

Resolution

If you want to use a remote SQL MDB, the SQL database client must be installed on the same computer where you install CA SDM.

In an Advanced Availability (AA) environment, the client tools need to be installed on the Standby server, Background server, and all App servers.

In a Conventional architecture, the client tools need to be installed on the Primary server.

The SQL Client tools and Management tools are needed for the SQL command-line utilities.

If you do not want to install these components for command line, use the Microsoft ODBC driver for Microsoft SQL Server and download the following from the Microsoft Download Center:
