Issue/Introduction

The Mimecast plugin for Outlook does not work as it supposed to while being protected by the Web Security Service (WSS)

Cause

The issue is caused when SSL interception is enabled as the plugin will connect to:

  • https://api.mimecast.com
  • https://eu-api.mimecast.com
  • eu.api.mimecast.com
  • https://eu.api.mimecast.com
  • https://mimecast.com

Resolution

Create an SSL exemption for the URLs that the Mimecast plugin connects and sends traffic to.

  1. Navigate to portal.threatpulse.com
  2. Go to "Sevice" mode
  3. On the "Network" tab select "SSL interception"
  4. Scroll to "SSL interception Exemptions"
  5. On "Destinations" column add the following URLs:
  • https://api.mimecast.com
  • https://eu-api.mimecast.com
  • eu.api.mimecast.com
  • https://eu.api.mimecast.com
  • https://mimecast.com
