Issue/Introduction

The Symantec Management Console (usually referred to as "the console") is a Web-based user interface that is the primary tool for interacting with Notification Server and its components, and for managing resources.

The console is divided into several important elements. One of the elements is called 'Header' (the header). The header consists of 3 elements: Menus, Search box and breadcrumb bar

The search box lets us search the resource data for the resources that we want. When we perform a search, a search panel appears under where you input the search.

The problem is that sometimes the panel is not populated with expected values but with an 'error' message.

Cause

Timeout value is not set correctly in 'C:\Program Files\Altiris\CustomConsole\Web\web.config'.

Environment

ITMS 8.0.X / 8.1.X 

Resolution

To workaround the issue:
1. Go to C:\Program Files\Altiris\CustomConsole\Web;
2. Update web.config httpRuntime element with requestValidationMode attribute  ->  <httpRuntime requestValidationMode="2.0" executionTimeout="300" />.

A permanent fix has been scheduled (subject to change!!!) for ITMS 8.1 RU6.
