Issue/Introduction

While configuring the Control Compliance Suite (CCS) service accounts, the tool Symantec.CSM.ConfigureServiceAccount.exe throws an error just after entering the passphrase; Directory not Found: Could not locate the Encryption Management Service Config Temp directory.

Cause

The tool tries to create two directories in the windows directory. On a default installed or configured Windows system this will succeed without problem but on a hardened system this issue can show. 

 

Environment

Control Compliance Suite (CCS) 11.x and 12.x

 

Resolution

Before running the tool, create the following two directories, in windows root directory...

C:\Windows\EncryptionManagementService\ConfigTemp

C:\Windows\Application Server\AppServerConfigTemp

This will allow the tool to use these directories to temporarily store the configuration files required and continue. After running the tool you can delete these directories.
