Using Internet Explorer (IE) 8 to browse Web sites produces an inconsistent experience when connecting to the Web Security Service (WSS) through the Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) client Web Traffic Redirection (WTR) feature. Some requests are sent through the Local Proxy Service (LPS) and instead may be sent directly, while others are properly redirected through LPS.
IE 8 may intermittently fail to apply Proxy Auto-Config (PAC) files correctly. Microsoft ended support for Internet Explorer 8 on January 12, 2016. There are no plans to resolve these failures in a future release of IE 8.
WTR is not supported on IE 8. The only version of IE supported by Microsoft, is IE 11. WTR is tested and certified against IE 11. For best results, use IE 11, or another supported browser.
