Additional failure download causes:

  1. Office 365 updates bundled into MS##-##-OFF Software Bulletin; unsupported versions, 7.5.x, 7.6.x up to HF6 and without Pointfix for HF7, and up through 8.0 HF5 as support was added in 8.0 HF6 out-of-box as outlined in INFO3521
  2. Data corruption between the physical package, package snapshot.xml and the database resources associations

Patch Management Solution 7.5.x, 7.6.x and 8.x

Primary issue was resolved in PMImport 7.2.85 released on 10/9/2017.

Secondary issue regarding additional errors downloading was resolved in PMImport 7.2.97. Additionally, the following workaround steps to resolve the additional failure were utilized prior to PMImport 7.2.97:

Clean-up the Office 365 updates for unsupported environments:

  1. Open the Console > Home > Patch Management > Windows > Settings > MetaData Import Task:
    • Expand the Vendors and Software segment in the right-pane
      • Search in Filter: click
      • Disable the four items: Microsoft Office Click to Run 2016 as detailed in INFO3521
    • Enable the setting on the top of the right-pane:
      • Delete previously downloaded data for vendors, software and languages that are now excluded
    • Save Changes
    • Select: Schedule Task > Now > Run
      • Or wait for the scheduled process to run as configured

Clean-up the corrupt resource associations from package to Bulletin:

  1. Open the Console > Actions > Software > Patch Remediation Center:
    • Highlight MS17-09-OFF; right-click > Disable
    • If that option is present: Removes the resource associations to the physical package in the database
    • If that option is not present: The associations were not created and move onto the next step
  2. Delete the parent folder of MS17-09-OFF package:
    • Found on the SMP Server: C:\Program Files\Altiris\Patch Management\Packages\Updates
  3. Open Patch Remediation Center:
    • Highlight MS17-09-OFF; right-click > Download:
    • This should recreate the resource associations and run a fresh download of the Bulletin
