Issue/Introduction

You need to generate log data from the management server to troubleshoot an issue with DCS

Environment

DCS All Versions

Resolution

DCS 6.9.x and lower

To use the utility called "Collect Server Info" (aka CSI, or "Get Server Info", GSI)

  1. Open an admin command prompt in "InstallDirectory":\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Data Center Security Server\Server\tools 
  2. Run getserverinfo.bat or collectserverinfo.bat (dependent on the version of DCS) via the admin command prompt
  3. This will generate a zip file which contains the DCS manager's name in C:\Users\"localuser"\AppData\Local\Temp (%temp%) with all of the DCS manager log data in it
  4. Collect the zip file and upload to your support case via the Broadcom support portal

 

DCS 6.10.x and higher

For Database or Management level logs
Please use the utility called "Collect Management Server Info" (aka CSI, or "Get Server Info", GSI)

  1. Open an admin command prompt in "InstallDirectory":\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Data Center Security Server\Server\Management\tools 
  2. Run getserverinfo.bat via the admin command prompt
  3. This will generate a zip file which contains the DCS manager's name in C:\Users\"localuser"\AppData\Local\Temp (%temp%) with all of the DCS Management Server log data in it
  4. Collect the zip file and upload to your support case via the Broadcom support portal

For Client Communications

Please use the utility called "Collect Communication Server Info" (aka CSI, or "Get Server Info", GSI)

  1. Open an admin command prompt in "InstallDirectory":\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Data Center Security Server\Server\Communication\tools 
  2. Run getserverinfo.bat via the admin command prompt
  3. This will generate a zip file which contains the DCS manager's name in C:\Users\"localuser"\AppData\Local\Temp (%temp%) with all of the DCS Communication Server log data in it
  4. Collect the zip file and upload to your support case via the Broadcom support portal
