Issue/Introduction

If the endpoint has multiple NICs, is it possible to exclude one or more NICs from the basic inventory?

Environment

ITMS 8.x

Resolution

If the endpoint has multiple NICs, it is not possible to exclude one or more NICs from the basic inventory.

IT Management Suite 8.1 RU3 introduces the ExcludeMACFromInventory registry entry.

The ExcludeMACFromInventory registry entry lets you specify the MAC addresses that should be excluded from the basic inventory.

You must add the registry entry at the following location:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Inventory

Use the REG_SZ or REG_MULTISZ registry value types to specify the exclude list.

Note: this configuration applies to basic inventory only and does not function when the inventory is collected by Inventory Solution Plug-in.
