Task Instance details UI is not loaded after an upgrade if Task Management on SMP has been uninstalled before the upgrade

Issue/Introduction

After upgrading to 8.1, it was noticed a problem with tasks in Jobs/Tasks. The Task Instance details UI show as blank when you double click on them to check status.

They are running properly, they just don’t report their status in the console while they are running.

Cause

Known issue. The actual problem is in the old common.css cached by IE. IE caches files by the full URL and the new common.css was not loaded properly into cache after the upgrade.

Environment

Upgrade from ITMS 8.0 to 8.1 RU2

Resolution

This issue has been fixed post 8.1 RU2.

The workaround is to make sure the right “ChildTaskInstanceView.aspx”, "common.css" and ”ManageTasks.aspx" were updated under ...\Program Files\Altiris\TaskManagement\Web and were loaded in the Internet Explorer cache.

If the files are the right version for what you have installed (modified date is recent), Go to “Internet Options – Browsing History – Settings – View Files”. Open and delete all files in there. Close that window and then close IE. Reopened IE and browse to the task to see if its Task Instance details UI is now populated.
