Control Compliance Suite

Issue/Introduction

After running LiveUpdate one of the Control Compliance Suite services won't start.
If you check the service configuration file and search for "thumbprint" there is nothing found.
Log file will contain an error such as the following.

Symantec Data Processing Service: Start failed 00:01:32.2473153  : System.ApplicationException: Server failed to use certificate, terminating! 

Cause

During update certificate information was removed from the service configuration file.

Resolution

  1. Open a command prompt as administrator
  2. Navigate to <install directory>\Reporting and Analytics\SymCert
  3. Run SymCert.exe command=install file=<certificate name> type=1
  4. Enter the certificate password when prompted
  5. Restart the service
