Endpoint Protection

Issue/Introduction

The Symantec Endpoint Protection for Linux (SEPFL) /etc/init.d/symcfgd restart command can be used to stop and then start the symcfgd, rtvscand and smcd daemons. However, when used it fails to restart the rtvscand and smcd services.

Cause

The /etc/init.d/symcfgd restart command does not contain code logic to restart the stopped rtvscand and smcd daemons.

Resolution

This is by design. Use the following commands to start the rtvscand and smcd services, once stopped:

  • /etc/init.d/rtvscand start
  • /etc/init.d/smcd start
