When doing a full uninstall of the Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition cloud (SEP SBE), the folder C:\programdata\norton says it cannot be removed.

This can occur when something was quarantined on the machine when it was uninstalled.

You will need to change the permissions or change the name of the folder to continue.

  1. Navigate to: C:\ProgramData\Norton\{0C55C096-0F1D-4F28-AAA2-85EF591126E7}\SRTSP
  2. Right click and open Properties
  3. Navigate to Security
  4. Click Edit to change permissions
  5. Add a user named Everyone
  6. Highlight Everyone and click Full Control and Modify in the Permissions panel below
  7. Apply changes
  8. Highlight the new Everyone Group and click Advanced
  9. Highlight Everyone and click Change Permissions
  10. Tick the box next to Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object
  11. Apply changes

Note: If you still cannot remove the Norton folder, renaming it will allow you to complete the installation. The newly renamed folder may still not allow deletion, but it will not endanger the machine and the next installalation will create a folder to replace it.
