Issue/Introduction

Automation policies are system-defined, or administrator-defined, sets of rules that govern the execution of automated actions. One of the default automation policies is â€‹Assign computers discovered in the last day to Organizational Group. It may not be possible to edit input parameters of the policy if "many" Organizational Units have been imported into  Symantec_CMDB from Active Directory.

Try to edit input parameters of the policy under Policies -> Automation Policies -> Assign computers discovered in the last day to Organizational Group. The following error may pop up

Environment

ITMS 8.x.

Cause

Edit Job/Task Input Parameters dialogue is currently designed to load all Organizational Units imported from Active Directory into the drop-down list under Organizational Group -> Custom Value. If AD contains "many" items, it may cause a situation when an HTTP request will exceed the pre-configured default Web Server values.

Resolution

A possible workaround for this issue:

  1. Edit "C:\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris NS Automation\Web\Web.config"
  2. Increase maxAllowedContentLength value to 50000000 (Bytes)
  3. Increase maxRequestLength value to 50000 (KiloBytes)
  4. Restart IIS and Internet Explorer
