Issue/Introduction

After reinstalling the Symantec Management Agent, the following errors started to show while trying to send basic inventory and request configuration:

Message 1:

DecryptBase64String failed to decrypt data, error: Bad Data

Message 2:

Invalid binary response from URL 'HTTP://MySMP.example.com:80/altiris/NS/Agent/CreateResource.aspx', error: Invalid header

Message 3:

Configure Server Mode: Failed to obtain machine resource GUID

Message 4:

Failed to register agent. Registration status 'Not registered'.

Cause

Corrupt entries left behind from previous Sym Agent installation

Resolution

In order to address the following error, deleted the "LDB" folder under "C:\ProgramData\Symantec\Symantec Agent\", and to delete it, you need to stop the Symantec Management Agent service:

DecryptBase64String failed to decrypt data, error: Bad Data

In order to address this error, you'll need to AeXNSC.exe /reinstall from the command line and you can find a copy of this file under "...\Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\NSCap\bin\Win32\X86\NS Client Package" on your SMP server:

Then check and make sure that the Symantec Management Agent is able to communicate properly.
