After upgrading to SGOS 6.5.9.2 Visual Policy Manager (VPM) load times are very slow the first time it is loaded. Subsequent times within the same browser session load quickly. After closing and opening a new browser session, the first time VPM loads will be substantially slow again. The load time varies depending on the amount of policy in the VPM and the speed of the link between the ProxySG and client loading the VPM.
A change in 6.5.9.2 altered the way that VPM's data is cached. This causes the jar files needed to load VPM to be requested by the client many times which results in the load times for VPM's first launch to be longer.
This issue is resolved in Secure Gateway Operating System (SGOS) 6.5.9.7 or newer 6.5 releases.
This issue can be worked around by disabling Java caching on the client. To change this setting from a Windows client, access the Java console from Control Panel and then:
After applying these settings the VPM load times should be consistently be shorter.
