Data Center Security Monitoring Edition ProxySG Software - SGOS

Issue/Introduction

After upgrading to Secure Gateway Operating System (SGOS) 6.6.3.2, the Management Console is loading very slowly. This slowness is clearly noticeable when launching Visual Policy Manager (VPM).

Cause

This is due to a code change in the Management Console to not cache the jar files which are needed for showing various part of the Management Console. These will be downloaded each time the Management Console is launched. This is clearly noticeable when accessing the Management Console using a slow connection. Due to the VPM jar file size, the launching of it shows a noticeable delay.

Resolution

Workaround

If the VPM is not launching at all, do one of the following:

  • Uncheck keep temporary files on my computer in the Java console (Control Panel > Java > General > Temporary Internet Files > Settings)
  • Downgrade to 6.6.2.3 if the access logs are not getting uploaded to an HTTP servers that require authentication.
  • Use the local policy file to make changes.
  • Manage the ProxySG appliance from a computer (through a Remote Desktop connection) in the same network segment as the appliance.
