Issue/Introduction

If the power supply unit LED does not light up or the System Status is displaying a failure, it may indicate that there is a problem with the power supply.

Resolution

Perform the following to identify where the problem lies :

  1. Ensure that the power source and power cord(s) are functional.
  2. If another power supply unit's LED lights up but the affected PSU does not, try to interchange the power cord between the 2 PSU and observe if the LED lights up on both PSUs.
  3. Try interchange the PSU and reattach the power cord. Observe if the affected PSU lights up now.
  • If the affected PSU does not light up, then it is likely that the PSU is faulty and should be replaced.
  • If the affected PSU lights up now but the good PSU does not, then the problem likely lies with the back plane that connects the PSUs. Hence the chassis might need to be replaced.

IMPORTANT : Ensure all the necessary safety precautions are taken before working with electrical components.

NOTE:  When you are looking at the left and right power supply status' under the "System Status" page, left and right is referenced as if you were looking at the device from the front panel. So when you are looking at the power supplies physically from the back the left and right will be swapped. See the below images as a visual representation of the explanation above.
