Error message and failed install of Unified Agent on Mac

When installing the the Unified Agent on a Mac (OS X), the install fails and returns the following error.

System extension cannot be used: The system extension "/Library/Extensions/bcua.kext" was installed improperly and cannot be used...


Usually this is caused by errors in the permissions. This can be a corruption of improper permission settings by application being installed.


To fix disk permissions:

  1. Open Disk Utility (in /Applications/Utilities).
  2. Select the appropriate partition; usually there is only one named Macintosh HD.
  3. Click Repair Permissions button and wait for it to finish.
