Issue/Introduction

Some customers require XOS users that have "operator like" privileges with minimum CLI access and normal Linux prompt.N/A

Cause

This article describes how to create users with low CLI and Linux privilege.

Resolution

CBS# configure username operator privilege 0 gui-level guest
Password:
Retype password:
CBS# configure privilege level 0 unix

 
To avoid user escalation privilege, it's mandatory to have a password for root user.

Without a root password

login as: operator
[email protected]'s password:
Last login: Mon Feb 9 19:55:24 2009 from 10.100.1.77


CBS> unix su
[[email protected] operator]# su admin


CBS#
With root password
##############

# passwd
Changing password for user root.
New UNIX password:
Retype new UNIX password:
passwd: all authentication tokens updated successfully.
#

login as: operator
[email protected]'s password:
