Issue/Introduction

The archive restore command does not run and logs errors %SYS-ERR: RPC failed;Detail: RPC: Timed outIn a dual CPM configuration with CP-redundancy configured and operational, when performing 'archive restore  system archive X( X = archive backup ID), the process fails and logs the following error

To complete the system restore, please re-login and do a 'reload all'. All CLI sessions will now be closed.

Resolution

Workaround

The archive restore  command requires the standby CPM be offline before the restore process can be completed successfully.Please follow the following procedure to complete archive restore


1.archive backup system archive x (backup can be performed with cp-redundancy enabled)

2,Before performing archive restore
    a)Verify cp-redundancy is at 100% sync before taking it offline
    b)Set standby cpm offline
         CBS#conf cp-redundancy set other_cp offline
    c) Verify standby cpm has reloaded into offline state
    d) Perform archive restore
         CBS#archive restore system archive x
         CBS#reload all
    e) Set offline cpm back to election
         CBS#conf cp-redundancy set other_cp election
    f)reload offline cp
    g) Verify cp-redundancy is at 100% sync
