Issue/Introduction

SNMPv3 option not available when configuring snmp-server. Note, the X-Series chassis do not send traps using SNMPv3. It will only sends traps using SNMP version 1 and version 2.n/a

Cause

There is not an SNMPv3 option available when configuring snmp-server.

CBS# configure snmp-server host X.X.X.X traps ?
 version 1                      - (Optional) SNMP v1 (default)
 version 2c                     - (Optional) SNMP v2c
 <WORD>                         - Community string 

Resolution

The X-Series chassis uses SNMPv3 for users to have read-only access to the chassis.

Note, the X-Series chassis do not send traps using SNMPv3.  It will only sends traps using SNMP version 1 and version 2.

Example of snmp-users configuration:

CBS# configure snmp-user <username> ?
 oid <WORD>                     - (Option) Specify MIB access.  Default is .iso
 auth-type                      - Set authentication type for SNMPv3 User <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
 no-passwords                   - No password required (authentication is none)
 priv-type                      - Set encryption type for SNMPv3 User   <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
