Issue/Introduction

Error: Network Error (tcp_error) when using SSL Proxy
You receive a Network Error (tcp_error) when using SSL Proxy

Resolution

If you are using SSL Proxy and have non-SSL traffic going over port 443, you will see the following error:

    Network Error (tcp_error)
A communication error occurred: "Connection refused"

The SSL Proxy service requires that all requests to its port be SSL. If you have both SSL and non-SSL traffic going over port 443, you can use a TCP Tunnel service in transparent mode to get the same functionality.

For more information about TCP Tunneling and you are running SGOS 4.x, please refer to Chapter 5, Section B titled Managing TCP Tunneling Services in the Configuration and Management Guide (CMG).  If you are running SGOS 5.x, please refer to Volume 2, Proxies Port Services, Chapters 12 (Managing the SSL Proxy) and 13 (Managing the TCP Tunneling Proxy) of the CMG.
