What is the License Auto-update Feature?

The license auto-update feature is designed to allow the proxy to contact the Blue Coat licensing web site and check for updates to the ProxySG license file. If the license has changed, for example if a new component has been purchased and authorized, the license is automatically downloaded to the proxy.

When auto-update is enabled the following is true:

  • The proxy will check for a license update once every 30 days.
  • The proxy will try and update the license daily beginning one month before the license is going to expire.
  • Once the proxy's license has expried, the proxy will try and update the license daily for 30 days.

To Configure the License Auto-Update Feature through the Management Console:

  1. Select Maintenance>Licensing>Install.
  2. Select Use Auto-Update.
  3. Click Apply.

To Configure the License Auto-Update Feature through the CLI:

    SGOS# (config) license-key path url
    SGOS# (config) license-key auto-update {enable | disable}

    Note: If the automatic license update fails and you receive a Load from Blue Coat error, you must log on to your License Management account:
    https://services.bluecoat.com/eservice_enu/licensing/mgr.cgi
    Click Update License Key.
