Issue/Introduction

Using policy to generate an event log, SNMP trap, IM, or email alert messages
You want help using policy to generate event log, SNMP, IM, or email alert messages

Resolution

You can use policy to issue the following types of alerts: e-mail, event log message, IM, and SNMP using the following Content Policy Language (CPL) parameters:

  • notify_email( ) - Sends an email notification to the list of recipients specified in the Event Log mail configuration.

  • log_message( ) - Writes the specified string to the ProxySG event log.

  • notify_snmp( ) - The SNMP trap is sent when the transaction terminates.

  • im.alert() - Delivers a message in-band to the instant messaging user.

These alert options are also available in the VPM under the 'track' column.

For additional assistance with CPL, please refer to the Configuration and Management Guide (CMG) for your version of SGOS.
