Issue/Introduction

When you attempt to restore the configuration to your ProxySG appliance from an existing backup, you might run into the error below :

SG300(config)#access-log

SG300#(config access-log)no default-logging p2p
  ok
SG300#(config access-log)delete log p2p
> % p2p is referenced by policy
SG300#(config access-log)delete format p2p
> % Format is referenced by log
SG300#(config access-log)exit
SG300#(config)exit

Resolution

An enhancement has been made in SGOS to address this problem in the following SGOS versions :

  • SGOS 6.2.13.1 (B#183604)
  • SGOS 6.4.4.1 (B#187635)
  • SG 6.5

If the problem persists running the versions above, a Technical Case can be opened for further investigation.

Workaround

Management Console : Configuration restore must be performed in batches

1. Restore the configuration until the "no default-logging" entry.

2. Logout and login to the Management Console again. Alternatively, refresh your browser at the Management Console.

3. Append the configuration "access-log" after "no default-logging". Restore the remaining configuration that starts after the "no default-logging" entry. If there is another "no default-logging" entry present, repeat Steps 1-3.

For example :
Existing configuration :
  access-log
  no default-logging p2p
  delete log p2p
  delete format p2p
  exit

Modified configuration :
  access-log
  no default-logging p2p
; Step 2 - Logout and login to the Management console or refresh browser
access-log ; Step 3 - we need to get into the access-log section to resume

  delete log p2p
  delete format p2p
  exit

Using CLI Console :
Pause for several seconds after every "no default-logging" entry before entering the "delete format" entry.
