Issue/Introduction

The Edge SWG (ProxySG) appliance sends DNS lookups when configured for a reverse proxy deployment.

Resolution

There are a few things that can cause the Edge SWG (ProxySG) to perform DNS lookups. DNS lookups in a reverse proxy deployment can occur when any of the following are active:

  • Adaptive Refresh
  • Access logging
  • Pipelining
  • HTTP health checks against a hostname
  • Policy that is based on URL or category (the proxy will do an RDNS lookup if it receives an IP as the host header in a request)
