Issue/Introduction

The Edge SWG advertisement, which uses multicast, is being sent by an Edge SWG but is not received by the other devices.

Resolution

If there is a network device between the Edge SWG units, the network device may not allow the SGRP/multicast traffic to pass between its interfaces. The setting which controls the passing of SGRP/multicast traffic is called IGMP snooping. By  default IGMP snooping is enabled. When this option is enabled the network device will not allow the SGRP/multicast traffic to pass between its interfaces.

Disable IGMP Snooping so SGRP/multicast can pass through the device and the heartbeat can operate as expected.

Additional Information

Though this issue is not Cisco specific, the link below is a Cisco KB that explains IGMP snooping and options you can use to work around the IGMP snooping without having to disable it.
