Users can no longer can access the ProxySG from the Management Console or the SSH console after registering the device with Director.
This issue occurs because during the registration process, the ProxySG appliance’s passwords were changed to random strings known only to Director; Director changes the admin user’s password, the enable mode password, and the front panel PIN password.
When the ProxySG is registered with Director, a device record for the ProxySG is created on Director and the device is set for SSH-RSA communication. Therefore, you need to log into the Director management console and reset the passwords for the ProxySG.
To change randomly set passwords:
1. Start the Director Management Console.
2. Click the Configure tab.
3. On the Configure tab page, right-click the new device whose passwords you want to set.
4. From the pop-up menu, click Set Passwords. The Enter Passwords dialog box displays.
5. Enter the new passwords:
Enable Password: In the provided fields, enter and confirm a password to access command line enable mode on this device and device record. Character minimum length is 1; maximum length is 64.
Console Password: In the provided fields, enter and confirm enter the admin user’s password. Character minimum length is 1; maximum length is 64.
Frontpanel Pin: In the provided fields, enter and confirm enter a password to configure the device from its front panel. The character set is 1–9; and the length is 4 characters. To clear the front panel PIN, use either of the following commands:
From Director, use:
director (config device device_id) # frontpanel-pin 0000
From the device, use:
#(config front-panel) pin 0000
Note: To save your changes, you must enter a valid password in all fields.
6. Click OK.
If the connection between Director and ProxySG cannot established, the only available option is to reset the ProxySG password using a serial console connection. Please see 000010613 for details.
