What is the Java Cache?

After you install the latest image on the ProxySG or if you experience problems using the Director Management Console, Blue Coat recommends clearing your computer's Java cache. Clearing the browser cache triggers a reload of the Java Archive (JAR) files. This reloading prevents Java exception errors on the Web browser when you access the ProxySG Management Console.

You might also need to clear the Java cache after you rollback to SGME 5.4.2.4 from a later release due to the fact Director .jar files might be updated in later releases.

For more information about the Java Control Panel, which enables you to clear the Java cache, see http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/guides/deployment/deployment-guide/jcp.html

How to Clear the Java Cache

On a Windows computer, use the following steps:

  1. Start the Windows Control Panel. For example, in Windows XP, click Start Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Java.
  3. In the Java Control Panel, click the General tab.
  4. On the General tab page, in the Temporary Internet Files section, click Settings.
  5. In the Temporary Files Settings dialog box, click Delete Files.

  8. Wait for files to be deleted.
  9. In the Temporary Files Settings dialog box, click OK.
  10. In the Java Control Panel, click OK.
