Issue/Introduction

Performing a health check will not result in any network traffic. This is true for all of the authentication realms. Each realm keeps track of whether or not it was able to successfully contact an authentication server the last time it processed an authentication request. This data is given to the health check process when a health check is performed.

Resolution

In other words, performing a health check on a given realm just queries the state of that realm, and the state is based on the last auth request that it processed. The health check doesn't actually make the realm do anything. The state of the realm won’t change until it is reinitialized through a change (to policy or the realm settings), or until it processes another authentication request. The realm will attempt to reconnect to BCAAA as often as once per second when it’s receiving authentication requests.
