Issue/Introduction

When an unplanned restart needs to be investigated on the ProxySG appliance, a core image or memory dump taken at the time of the restart can be helpful in troubleshooting. The ProxySG  appliance takes a minicontext by default, upon a restart.

Resolution

The ProxySG  appliance takes a minicontext by default, upon a restart.

Note: if a full core was not taken, please see How to enable a full core dump on the ProxySG appliance for instructions and warnings related to enabling Full Core memory dumps.

To access cores that have been automatically gathered, see below:

  1. In the Management Console go to --> Statistics --> Advanced --> Core Images --> Show Core Images. Once this loads, you see a list of cores taken for different restart events.
  2. Locate the restart in question, and note if there is a Full Core or just a Minicontext taken.
  3. Click each of the items (Minicontext or Full) and save them locally.

You can upload by going to mysymantec portal and upload to proper case number.
