Issue/Introduction

How do I configure Gmail access using IMAP in a transparent Proxy deployment using Outlook?

Resolution

1) Create Proxy Services to listen on ports 587, 465 and 993

  • Go to  Configuration > Services > Proxy Services
  • Create a new service by clicking New Service.
  • Set each of the new services to use TCP Tunnel as the Proxy type.
  • In the Listeners section of the edit service dialog box, add three explicit listeners for TCP port 587, 465 and 993, as shown below:

2) Now open Outlook on a client PCand add a new email account (at Outlook account setting). Please configure as shown below:

3) Click on 'More Settings' in the Outlook and configure as the following screens:

 4) Test your Gmail access now.

*** Note ***

-This configuration can be done on almost any email client that supports IMAP, SMTP and SMTP authentication.
- If your email client does not support SMTP authentication, you won't be able to send mail through your client using your Gmail address.
- Also, if you're having trouble sending mail but you've confirmed that encryption is active for SMTP in your mail client, try to configure your SMTP server on a different port: 465 or 587.
