Issue/Introduction

This article discusses how to clear all policies and restore the policies to default on the ProxySG.

How do I clear all policy from a ProxySG?

Resolution

You can clear all the policies from your proxy from the Command Line Interface (CLI).  To do this you will need to have a serial cable or SSH connection to the proxy and issue the following commands:

login as: admin
[email protected]'s password:

ProxySG>en
Enable Password:
ProxySG#conf t
Enter configuration commands, one per line.  End with CTRL-Z.
ProxySG#(config)policy reset
WARNING: This will clear local, central, forward and VPM policy. Are you sure you want to reset ALL policy files?  (y or n)

Ensure to use the "exit" command to leave the console once you have completed the policy reset.

NOTE:  This will clear all policy on the proxy.  Use caution when using this command, it will clear all policy on the ProxySG and return it to a default configuration.

If the current ProxySG OS is licensed for the Policy Services subscription, then after issuing the 'policy reset' command you will still see the required built-in policies that are part of "Policy Services" subscription. They will still remain part of the ProxySG policy and will be visible in /policy/current.
