Issue/Introduction

Static bypass list can only be defined using source or destination IP addresses and subnets.  This ensures that the proxy bridges traffic when appropriate as quickly and with as little impact to the proxy's performance as possible.

Environment

Proxy in Transparent deployment

Cause

The subsystems in place to read the application headers that the proxy understands will add overhead of both time and proxy resources to passing requests based on a hostname, so the static bypass list examines only the network level, in this case IP.

Resolution

No, a FQDN or hostname cannot be used in the static bypass list.

Additional Information

Static-Bypass would not work for any proxy aware client/PC such as in explicit deployment.
