Issue/Introduction

How can I suppress or edit certain syslog messages coming from the ProxySG?
Is there a way I can limit the types of messages that come from the ProxySG via syslog?

Resolution

For the Syslog event logging, there are five event log levels.  They are:

  • Severe errors
  • Configuration events
  • Policy messages
  • Informational
  • Verbose

The syslog will send events that are in accordance to those various levels.  To some extent you can control what messages are sent by selecting the message level you want.  If you only want severe errors returned, then uncheck the other events.  The specific events in each event level are not configurable.  Meaning if there is a particular event message that occurs at one of the event levels, it is not possible to go in and make modifications to have that event not sent to the syslog server.  The events can probably be filtered or parsed out on the syslog server.
