Director shows partner state as 'Misconfigured' after adding to standby pair.

Issue/Introduction

After configuring a Director as a standby member, the partner state shows 'Misconfigured".

What does the 'Misconfigured' state mean?

Resolution

There are two possiblities:-

1. If by accident, both Directors were configured as primary.  Each primary Director would report the opposite as 'Misconfigured' because its partner is not secondary. If this is the case, configure the intended secondary director to standalone mode, then configure it as secondary.

2. The standby password used to configure the standby pair does not match on both devices.  Reconfigure each Director in standalone mode first, then add to standby pair again using the same standby password.

e.g. primary-director (config)#standby make-primary 10.0.0.2 thunder

       secondary-director (config)#standby make-secondary 10.0.0.1 thunder
